West Coast Custom Tour

I spent 11 days hiking the beautiful West Coast, a perfect combination of overnight hikes, day walks, camping, beaches, alpine landscapes, river crossings and unbelievably amazing campfire food! This was my second tour with Hiking NZ (I did Secret South 5 years ago) and I'm so glad I decided to revisit the beautiful South Island! What a huge and awesome wilderness playground it is! Hiking NZ made every effort to ensure the trip was perfect for us! Simon, our guide, was exceptional in his knowledge of the outdoors and provided unwavering support and enthusiasm! It was a great trip with a fine group of people!

I am a bit tardy in writing this review, but figured it is better late than never. I went on two tours with them in Feb and March, one in the North Island and one in the South Island and they were excellent. Excellent tour guides, great way to see New Zealand, nice campgrounds etc. I felt like in both tours we got to go off the beaten track to see the real New Zealand. I would highly recommend.

Heard a lot about plants and animals, that shows that the guide knows the area and the environment. That’s an awesome addition to the nice scenery in NZ.

I absolutely loved this trip! We went across mountain ranges, hiked through all different weather and landscape. we did kayaking and glacier walking. I took my DSLR Nikon camera and took some of the best pictures ever! Our group was awesome met great new friends, our guide John was really great, experienced, funny and flexible. I felt very safe during the hikes and it is the best way to see New Zealand! Must do hikes!

What a magnificent experience. We did the West Coast Wilderness in January and I can confidentially say it was a fabulous way to start a new year! I particularly enjoyed sleeping under rocks and wading through crystal clear glacial rivers. Who would have thought walking in wet boots could be so enjoyable!? And the views - stunning...when the mist cleared.
