Secret South Custom Tour

It was a very well thought out itinerary - every day was different - a different campsite, a different beach to swim off, a different river to wade through (multiple times) or swim in and a wonderful rocky overhang to sleep under on one night. 

Super smooth trip out to some amazing off the track spots. Beautiful mix of places to visit on the secret south. Heaps of good food to keep you going. Helpful and interesting guide.

Dave was a fantastic guide with an infectious enthusiasm for the outdoors, his NZ home and hiking. He was also pretty capable in the kitchen and whipped up some great meals on the road and trail… This was a fun and sometimes challenging trip that provided us with an experience of a lifetime with many fond memories.

What a way to experience South Island NZ! Beautiful, intense! A great bunch of folks (and new friends) to hike with, and thanks to Super Dave our tireless, knowledgeable guide, it was a most enjoyable and rewarding experience. Highly recommended, and probably will come back for more (well worth the 24 hour plane ride).

Had such a wonderful time that even after I got back home, I keep reminiscing of the tour. New Zealand is indeed beautiful, and the guides are very capable, knowledgeable, caring and interactive. Overall, with the great scenery, group camaraderie, and talented guides, it kept me wanting to go back for more. Other tours will do well to try to meet Hiking NZ's standards!

I had been travelling around the world for over nine months, and was a bit 'done with it'. I planned to go to New Zealand, but was wondering if such small islands could add anything when I already had seen so much of the world. I booked this trip, and I had some of the best weeks of my whole trip! You have to love to hike, even if it rains or you get tired. But this was awesome! Our guide was really enthusiastic and guided us in less than 2 weeks over so many beautiful places. The group was awesome, the food so good. Really one of the best things I've done around the world so far!

A hiking trip to New Zealand had been on my bucket-list for ever, so my expectations were high. Hiking New Zealand/Active Earth did not disappoint. I have done many adventure holidays & I do a lot of hiking around the world, but the I spent my whole trip saying to myself "If I'd have done the South Island on my own, I wouldn't have found this walk/this place/done this!" I'd do another trip with this company again - and I'd recommend this to anyone who wants full exhausting days, great walking and to cram as much of the South Island into 2 weeks as possible.
