Stewart Island Track

My partner and I did the Stewart Island trip and had an amazing time. The flight in was beyond cool - flying over the island and landing on the beach! We hiked around the sand dunes and explored the beach looking for whale vomit (apparently you can get a lot of money for it?). We had an awesome guide, Ivan, who taught us about the natural and human history of the areas we ventured through. The stay in Oban was awesome, we had kakas on our back porch literally eating out of our hands! The venture to Ulva Island was probably my favorite part - seeing the cool birds and restoration progress was super amazing. We met a weka, saw yellow heads, saddle backs, parakeets and even a kiwi! 

A long held dream became reality... A solo traveller fit 61 year old, I did not feel capable of tackling a challenging Stewart Island walk on my own. From initial contact to my completing the walk this evening the whole process was a delight. Very special thanks to Evan, who made the dream a reality. Next trip already in the planning!

From landing at Mason Bay To Leaving Oban this was a really great experience.The guiding,food and accommodation was well organised and we felt like a family group.The experienced guide had great information about the history, plants and birds.There was good variety on the track

I have just returned to Germany after having spent 5 weeks in your beautiful country New Zealand. I really had a great time on my Stewart Island Hike. Bex and the local guides were great so I thoroughly enjoyed everything. and we all got on very well so there was always a lot of fun.

The prime reason for the trip was to do the Kiwi Hiking and we both thoroughly enjoyed it. The guides were all excellent, and great fun, and the accommodation/food lived well up to expectations. Thank you. AND we saw the Kiwis on Stewart Island!!!
