'Capture the Moment' and WIN!

We love celebrating the incredible moments our Hiking New Zealand travellers experience. This summer, we’re inviting you to participate in our 'Capture the Moment' Photo Competition. We're on the lookout for powerful, inspiring images from your adventures with Hiking New Zealand.

 

What to Capture:

Think stunning landscapes, scenic trails, unique flora and fauna, memorable hiker experiences, or moments of dedication (picnicking, camping, sitting around the campfire, and having fun on the trail).

 

Prizes to Win

  • Monthly Prize (January to April): NZ$100 Amazon voucher
  • Grand Prize: NZ$1000 towards a Hiking New Zealand trip

Even if you don’t win a monthly prize, you’re still eligible for the grand prize.

 

How to Enter

Submit your photos by one of these methods:

    1. Email your images to [email protected]
    2. Upload directly to our Hiking New Zealand Facebook page (we’ll contact you for high-resolution copies).
    3. Post on Instagram with the hashtag #capturethemoment and tag us (@hikingnewzealand) - we’ll follow up for the high-resolution copies.

Complete Contest Rules

  1. Prize Redemption: The grand prize of NZ$1000 must be redeemed within two years of notification.
  2. Prize Conditions: Prizes cannot be exchanged, transferred, or replaced.
  3. Photo Submissions: Participants may submit up to five (5) photos per month during the competition (January to April 2025).
    • Photos must be in JPG format, with a file size between 1MB and 12MB.
    • Photos must be submitted by the 10th day of the following month (NZ time).
  4. Eligibility:
    • Photos must be taken on a trip booked through Hiking New Zealand and include the trip name and date.
    • Photos do not need to be taken in the same month they are submitted, as long as they meet the travel date criteria.
  5. Incomplete or Ineligible Entries: Photos that do not meet the requirements or include incomplete information will not be eligible.
  6. Acknowledgment: By submitting photos, participants acknowledge they have read and understood these rules, which may be subject to amendment.
  7. Submission Period: All entries must be submitted between 1 January 2025 and 10 May 2025 (New Zealand time). Entries outside this timeframe will be disqualified.
  8. Travel Date Requirement: Photos must be taken on a tour booked through Hiking New Zealand for travel between 1 August 2024 and 30 April 2025.
  9. Photo Usage: By submitting photos, participants grant Hiking New Zealand the right to use them for promotional purposes, including publications, displays, and websites, without compensation. Credit will be provided where possible.
  10. Consent: Entrants confirm that all individuals featured in the photos have given their consent for their images to be used in the contest.
  11. Copyright: Participants affirm they own all copyrights to the photos and guarantee the photos are original works that do not infringe on any copyright, trademark, or proprietary rights.
  12. Online Posting: Photos may be displayed on Hiking New Zealand’s website and social media platforms. Hiking New Zealand is not responsible for photos reposted by third-party websites or social media platforms.
  13. Winner Selection: Winners will be chosen by a judging panel based on the contest’s rules and criteria.
  14. Notification of Winners: Winners will be notified via the phone number, Facebook account, or email address provided.
  15. Prize Forfeiture: If a winner cannot be contacted within seven (7) days or declines the prize, it will be awarded to the next runner-up.
